Geoffrey Haft, MD
2016 Medical Champion
Dr. Haft is a board certified, fellowship trained spine surgeon and pediatric orthopedic surgeon. He is a native of Billings, Montana, where he met his wife, Angie, at Billings West High School. He attended Stanford University where he received an undergraduate degree in human biology. He went on to medical school at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon, where he graduated Cum Laude. Dr. Haft completed his residency training at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. While at Iowa, he developed a deep passion for spine surgery, scoliosis surgery and pediatric orthopedics. Subsequent to residency, he completed a spine deformity and pediatric orthopedic surgery fellowship at Starship Children’s Hospital in Auckland, New Zealand. Dr. Haft has subsequently practiced for twelve years at Sanford Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. He is a member of Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America and Scoliosis Research Society.
Dr. Haft has taken a particular interest in juvenile arthritis given his extensive involvement in pediatric orthopedics. In the absence of a local pediatric rheumatologist, Dr. Haft has frequently seen and managed early juvenile idiopathic arthritis. Dr. Haft has been a fervent advocate and champion for bringing a pediatric arthritis specialist to Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
